Introduction
Breast implants, since their introduction in the 1960s, have had a historyof safety warnings, regulatory action, and litigation. Despite this, breast augmentation remains one of the most popular elective cosmetic surgical procedures worldwide. In 2019, regulators around the world responded to the growing risk of Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) by removing a number of macrotextured devices from use. This resulted in a growing awareness, both through media and social media, of the medium- and long-term risks of breast implants. We sought to establish a non-profit unique International Breast Implant Check Clinic (IBICC) to guide and educate women with implants.
