Breast reduction is a common procedure. Breast reduction is firstly done for physical reasons but also for cosmetic reasons. Most women that go ahead with a breast reduction suffers from heavy and low sitting breast, it can cause limitation in their everyday life and to prohibit participation in sport activities. A heavy chest can cause skin rashes and eczema under the breast and its weight can lead to shoulder, neck pain and back problems.
Operation
The surgery is performed under general aesthetic which means you be completely asleep and won’t be able to feel anything during the procedure. You will stay 1 night at the hospital. You might feel sore and tights around the incisions for the first few days, it should not be more painful than for over-the-counter painkillers to help. We will provide you with the medication you will need. The sutures are removed at the clinic after 3 weeks.
Follow-up
The incisions normally leaves a scar around the areola, a vertical scar from the areola to the crease of the breast and a scar underneath the breast, called an anchor scar. Most scars will naturally fade with time and with the appropriate aftercare protocol they should blur into thin lines. Some major breast reduction cases can be divided into 2 stage process where liposuction to the breast is performed as the first stage.
Breast reduction has a very high patient satisfaction rate as it has a great impact on the patient quality of life.
